Phyllostachys viridi glaucescens(Ornamental bamboo)

Borinda lushuiensis(Yunnan 4) This much admired and rarely cultivated species is one of most rewarding achievements as our Borinda Lushuiensis is one of the oldest in the country and towers over 32 feet high. Chimonobambusa tumidissinoda('Walking stick bamboo') Notable for its distinctive knobbly nodes, Chimonobambusa Tumidissinoda has deep green culms that grow in elegant weeping arcs. Once it takes to the soil it is quick to spread across large areas. It is known as ‘walking stick bamboo’ due to its use as such in Sichuan, China. [Click on image to enlarge]
Drepanostachyum damarapa('Candy cane bamboo') Vibrant Drepanostachyum Damarapa is often called ‘candy cane bamboo’ because its culms change in colour as they age from pink, lime green and golden yellow. Sensitive to climate, this clumping species originally from the lower levels of the Himalayan mountains prefers light, sunny areas. [Click on image to enlarge]
Phyllostachys boryanaA popular choice for many gardens, this attractive arching bamboo is dappled with interesting patterns and markings along its culms, which develop fully with careful pruning of the lower leaves. It easily grows to a lofty height of over six feet and can wander if really thriving. [Click on image to enlarge]
Phyllostachys bambusoides Castillonis InversaThis is an eye-catching bamboo with golden yellow culms in maturity and thick, lush foliage. It reacts well to full sunshine and its strong nature and very straight growth make it a common building material in Japan. The culms can become almost five inches wide and 65 feet tall in warmer climes. [Click on image to enlarge]
Himalayacalamus hookerianusThe culms of this colourful bamboo start off blue then deepen to an intense reddish purple.
