Sculpture

If a tree falls at Carwinion, it isn't simply a question removing it for firewood. When a tree fell in the winter of 2008/2009 we asked artist and carver of wood and stone, Peter Boex, what he thought we could do with it.

Peter, who is well known for his post neo-classical body form garden sculptures, showed us his vision for Carmen; dancer in the wood, which he then carved from the fallen tree, and we were spell-bound.

Peter uses the natural grain of the wood perfectly to set off what has been transformed from a logistical problem to a beautiful and imposing piece of art.

We so like what he has achieved with Carmen; dancer in the wood that we asked him to make a series of smaller bronzes of this creation so we could have a version of it inside the house.

These beautiful cast bronzes can be bought from Carwinion with the proceeds going to help fund the work we do here in keeping this fantastic garden and important element in Cornwall's heritage alive for future generations to enjoy.

If you would like to enquire about owning one of these bronzes, please call us on 01326 250258.
